We’re also proud to be included in the Top Five of companies for brand reputation for the first time on the prestigious annual list.
Canada’s most trusted financial services brand
With the release of the 2021 list, Interac takes the Number One spot in the financial services category for the seventh year in a row. We’ve also moved up 12 spots in the overall ranking, in a tie for fourth place among Canadians’ most trusted brands.
A project of the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business at the University of Victoria, the 2021 Brand Trust Index surveyed 8,975 Canadians in January and February about their attitudes toward 401 international, national and regional brands.
The results showed an increase in the importance of trust overall, according to Saul Klein, dean of the Gustavson School of Business. He noted that the pandemic and other recent news events have prompted consumers to make trust an even more important aspect of brand reputation. “As the world climbs out of the pandemic, brand awareness is no longer the currency of business — consumer trust is the priority,” he said.
Because our products enable Canadians to transact conveniently while being physically apart from one another, the pandemic led to many people relying even more on their trusted relationship with us. The recent launch of our InLife brand platform sets the stage for deepening this relationship even more. As Canadians make more and more of their transactions digitally, we want them to feel the independence, freedom and confidence that comes with being in control of their own money.
In its analysis of the 2021 results, the team behind the Brand Trust Index noted that the financial service and insurance sectors overall enjoy a strong reputation among Canadians for protecting customers’ privacy and data. That’s an encouraging signal for companies like Interac that are working to bring Canadians new innovations in fintech and digital transactions, including digital ID and digital payments for transit.
Interac is a Top 10 most trusted company according to Leger
In another nod to the trusted reputation that Interac has built among Canadians, we were recognized in Leger’s list of Canada’s most trusted companies earlier this year. Interac placed eighth overall in the well-known marketing analytics and polling firm’s annual reputation poll of Canadians — the only financial services brand in the Top 10.
These industry recognitions reinforce our commitment to maintain Canadians’ trust and ensure that they can always access, spend and send funds securely and conveniently.
