Interac Corp. has been named one of Greater Toronto’s Top Employers for 2022, an annual program that recognizes organizations with exceptional human resources programs and forward-thinking workplace policies.
Interac was selected for its commitment to employees over the course of the pandemic, including a home office stipend, increased benefits, and weekly programming for employees and their families; its flexible options, including reduced summer hours; and its championing of peer-to-peer recognition.
“We are proud and honoured to be named one of Greater Toronto’s Top Employers,” says Caroline Stephens, Chief Human Resources Officer at Interac Corp. “Interac is committed to establishing a culture that values collaboration and flexibility while empowering employees with accountability to achieve great results. This recognition is a testament to these efforts and the employee-centric approach Interac took to reinforce the safety, security and support our employees needed throughout the uncertainty of the pandemic.”
While employee wellness and engagement have always been top of mind for Interac, the challenges brought on by the pandemic led to increased efforts. Initiatives included three extra-long “Wellness Weekends” during an Employee Appreciation Summer to give teams a chance to recharge, daily quiet hours to help employees deal with new demands on work-life balance, doubled mental health benefits for employees and their dependents, and a series of fun and engaging virtual events to keep people connected while combating isolation.
The Greater Toronto’s Top Employers competition, now in its 16th edition, evaluates employers on eight criteria, including: physical workplace; work atmosphere and social; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time-off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.
