2025 was a year like no other, filled with twists, turns and everything in between. Global pressures rippled across Canada, and vulnerable communities were among those most affected. At Interac, we recognized the need to step up. We know that by giving people the tools, knowledge and resources they need to build resilience, we can help them thrive in a digital world. Because for us, investing in our community isn’t just something we do; it’s who we are.
Last year, we invested over $800,000 in community-led organizations and supported more than 30 Canadian charities from coast to coast. We strengthened our commitment to financial confidence by teaming up with community partners to address emerging issues and respond to the evolving needs of communities who face inequitable barriers to financial wellbeing.
Here’s how we made this happen.

Advancing financial confidence and empowerment
In 2025, we hosted the second annual Building Financial Confidence Summit alongside ACCES Employment and TD Bank Group, bringing together nearly 200 individuals who are new to Canada. The summit provided practical tools and resources to help newcomers take control of their finances and build a strong foundation for their future. More than 80 Interac employees volunteered their time for speed mentoring sessions, sharing real-world insights and offering guidance on navigating the Canadian workplace.
Our commitment to financial empowerment continued as we expanded our partnership with Conscious Economics to introduce three new modules to Mindfulness & Money, a free online program that highlights the connection between personal well-being and financial decision-making. These modules reached over 94,000 Canadians, covering topics such as combatting fraud, aligning financial goals and reclaiming power after economic abuse.

Fostering a culture of giving back
Our commitment to giving was amplified through our 22nd annual Giving Week campaign in support of United Way Greater Toronto (UWGT), where employees, together with our corporate match, raised over $250,000. These funds directly benefit UWGT and its extensive network of over 300 social service organizations across the GTA, helping to strengthen communities and improve the lives of thousands.
We also hosted our second annual Movember campaign which was championed by Interac CEO Jeremy Wilmot. Our employees gave back in various ways, from growing impressive ‘staches and raising awareness of men’s health, to spearheading fundraising efforts, resulting in Interac donating over $50,000 to Movember inclusive of employee donations and corporate match.
But our impact extended beyond financial contributions. Interac employees dedicated over 650 volunteer hours through Giving Week and National Volunteer Week programs, rolling up their sleeves for activities with United Way agencies, city and shoreline cleanups, Baycrest Foundation’s Bike for Brain Health, and other employee engagement opportunities.

Safeguarding Canadians’ financial wellbeing is core to what we do. In early 2025, we partnered with the Canadian Centre for Women’s Empowerment (CCFWE) and Women’s Shelters Canada to launch the Interac e-Transfer Opt-Out Notification Feature. This feature was introduced after community partners highlighted that Interac e-Transfer email notifications were being misused to send messages of online harassment. With this feature, recipients can now manage their email notifications and avoid harmful messages, putting control back in their hands.
Continuing to spotlight the role technology plays in financial safety, Interac sponsored a powerful conversation on economic abuse at the 2025 Elevate Festival. This session explored how those impacted can reclaim their financial autonomy and underscored the critical role technology plays in that journey.

What’s ahead: growing partnerships and championing financial wellbeing
We are proud of the impact we have made, alongside our employees and community partners, helping Canadians and newcomers take steps towards digital prosperity. But we are not stopping there.
Looking ahead, we will continue building upon our efforts to strengthen financial confidence, with a sharper focus on tackling economic abuse. By working closely with experts from community organizations, we will continue to support those most affected and create meaningful change. Because together, these initiatives reflect our ongoing mission: to help Canadians feel confident, safe and empowered as they navigate their financial future and lead them to digital prosperity.
