Wildfires are currently active in several regions across Canada, including Northwestern Ontario, the Prairies, and parts of British Columbia. These wildfires are not only threatening lives and displacing families but also placing immense pressure on communities and small business owners. The widespread destruction is having far-reaching consequences on public health, safety and access to essential services.
In response to the escalating crisis, Interac Corp. has made a corporate donation to the Red Cross Canadian Wildfire Fund which will enhance Canada’s readiness and response to the escalating wildfire risks and bolster resilience. Donations may be used to address preparedness, immediate relief, and longer-term recovery for wildfire events within Canada.

Enabling Real-Time Relief Through Interac e-Transfer
As governments and aid organizations work urgently to support evacuees, Interac e-Transfer is playing a vital role in delivering fast, secure, and direct financial assistance. Both the Canadian Red Cross and several provincial governments are using the platform to distribute emergency funds in real time—ensuring displaced Canadians receive the help they need without delay.
This isn’t the first time Interac e-Transfer has been used to offer emergency financial relief in a crisis. During the 2016 Fort McMurray wildfires, nearly 100,000 Interac e-Transfer transactions occurred over the duration of the response, demonstrating the platform’s ability to scale quickly and reliably in times of need.

Support Indigenous Communities
Recognizing the disproportionate impact of natural disasters on Indigenous and remote communities, Interac is also donating to True North Aid, a national organization providing emergency relief and long-term support to Indigenous populations. These funds will help address urgent needs in communities with limited access to emergency infrastructure.
