Your Interac debit card. Now your OC Transpo pass, too.

Your questions, answered.
Does it cost more to tap on OC Transpo with Interac Debit?
You’ll be charged the same $4 Adult fare as you would with your transit card. The first tap charges your fare, and any taps after that within the transfer window on OC Transpo will appear as $0.00. Interac Debit is not available on STO. Learn more
Is it safe to tap on OC Transpo with Interac Debit?
You can feel confident knowing that every payment has the same security backing as any other Interac Debit contactless transaction.
Can I take advantage of fare capping when I tap on with Interac Debit?
Daily fares are capped at the price of a Day Pass ($12.00). Monthly fares are capped at the price of an Adult monthly pass ($135.00). The fare is calculated each night and then charged to your method of payment. Just make sure to use the same card or card enabled on a mobile wallet each time you tap. If you have a physical debit card that is also stored on a mobile wallet, they are considered to be different cards.
How can I prove I paid?
When prompted, simply tap the Transit Fare Enforcement Officer’s device with your Interac debit card and you’re all set. If you paid with your phone, you’ll need to present your Interac debit card in your digital wallet for verification. Rest assured, Transit Fare Enforcement Officers and OC Transpo will not have access to any of your personal or account information during this process, they’ll only see whether you’ve paid for your trip.
Ride with ease. Wherever you’re going.

Does Interac Debit work as a transfer on all OC Transpo services?
Not quite. While transfers between OC Transpo buses and the O-Train are covered, Interac Debit payments are not accepted for transfers between Para Transpo and buses or trains, or on the STO system.
Do I need to tap off OC Transpo?
Unlike other transit systems, OC Transpo does not require you to tap off. Just tap your Interac debit card, credit card, or mobile wallet when you board, and you’re good to go.
What if I switch cards or devices mid-trip?
You may be charged again. To avoid double charges, make sure to tap with the same card (or mobile wallet) every time.
Will OC Transpo store any of my banking information after I tap my debit card?
No, neither the transit system nor Interac gains access to, or stores, your banking information when you tap your debit card or digital wallet to pay (just like when you pay at a store). When you make a payment, the only data transmitted consists of payment transaction codes, not confidential details about your bank account.
Can I use my physical debit card to make transit payments?
Yes, if you have Interac Debit contactless payments enabled, you can use your physical debit card to pay for your adult transit fare on select transit agencies.
Which transit fares can I pay using Interac Debit?
You can pay for your adult transit fare using Interac Debit on select transit agencies.
What if I want to tap in multiple riders? Can I tap multiple times?
No, the fare reader will not accept multiple taps as an attempt to pay for multiple riders using the same payment method. Each rider will need to use a separate Interac Debit card when paying to board (just as each rider needs their own payment method when using dedicated fare cards).
Where can I check my transaction history? How will I recognize an Interac Debit charge for transit on my bank statement?
Your transit payment transactions will show up differently depending on the transit system you’re travelling on. For specific details, please connect with your financial institution or the transit authority directly.
