They just seem to keep growing and growing.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Welcome to From Dollar One, presented by Interac.<\/p>\n<p>In this episode, we\u2019re talking about selling through online marketplaces \u2014 <em>securely<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>For an entrepreneur, these marketplaces represent an enticing opportunity. They can be an effective way to connect with your growing customer base \u2014 especially for those\u00a0 who are just getting off the ground.<\/p>\n<p>But there are a few fraudsters out there \u2014 people looking to take advantage of sellers like you. So it pays to protect yourself.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>That means taking precautions. Like meeting buyers in a safe place. In some cities, local police offer monitored safe spaces where people can go to make exchanges.<\/p>\n<p>You can also use <em>Interac <\/em>e-Transfer to make marketplace selling safer (not to mention easier), too.<\/p>\n<p>Using <em>Interac <\/em>e-Transfer helps you avoid some of the payment methods scammers like to use when they\u2019re posing as buyers \u2014 like counterfeit cash, and fake cheques and bank drafts.<\/p>\n<p>Another safety tip? If you have <em>Interac<\/em> e-Transfer Autodeposit set up, the payments you receive will be directly deposited into your bank account, following standard bank fraud checks \u2014 with no additional steps or passwords needed. That can help prevent email interception fraud.<\/p>\n<p>If you are using <em>Interac <\/em>e-Transfer with a security question and answer, make sure it\u2019s a strong one that can\u2019t easily be guessed or discovered \u2013 and make sure you share it through a safe channel, like in person. Not somewhere it can be intercepted, like your email.<\/p>\n<p>And finally, to be extra sure you have received the money you\u2019re supposed to, check your bank account balance before you send the buyer on their way.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s more to learn!
