Many of us learned how to work remotely for the first time, we celebrated milestones virtually, and found innovative ways to stay connected to friends, family, and colleagues. At&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Interac<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, this year also brought a lot of change and new opportunities. We saw tremendous growth across our digital payment solutions,&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">kept fraud levels low<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and focused on building a resilient work culture to keep our networks running efficiently for&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Canadians.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;See below for some of the major highlights of 2020:<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\" 201341983\":0,\"335559740\":276}\"=\"\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Transitioned All Employees to WFH<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{\" 201341983\":0,\"335559740\":276}\"=\"\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">At the beginning of March, we transitioned all 450 + of our employees to work from home and<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;put the safety and wellbeing of our staff at the forefront of every business decision to ensure they had the support they needed to keep our networks&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">running<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;smoothly. We took extensive measures to&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.interac.ca\/work-from-home-wellness-empowering-staff-to-prioritize-mental-health-while-working-from-home\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">help our team<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;balance their work and home lives, continued to keep them up-to-date on changing policies and procedures, and&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">provided<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.interac.ca\/building-strong-resilient-work-culture\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">one-time work-from-home allowance<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;to help them upgrade their workspace to promote comfort and workplace efficiency.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">W<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">e also had fun doing it! We hosted more than 10 virtual events including holiday festivities and our second annual <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.interac.ca\/key-takeaways-from-our-second-annual-interac-diversity-week\/\">Diversity Week<\/a><\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;benefitting United Way<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\" 201341983\":0,\"335559740\":276}\"=\"\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Prioritized Diversity &amp; Inclusion<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{\" 201341983\":0,\"335559740\":276}\"=\"\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Interac<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;D&amp;I Program recognizes&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.interac.ca\/about\/our-people\/diversity-and-inclusion\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">eight dimensions<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;of demographic and cognitive diversity, which are implemented through&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">various<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> initiatives designed to embrace diversity as a strength, promote fair treatment, equal access to opportunities, and organizational flexibility.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\" 201341983\":0,\"335559740\":276}\"=\"\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This year, we launched the&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.interac.ca\/equity-and-empowerment-initiative\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Equity and Empowerment&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Initiative<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;(EEI) that seeks to combat racism and other forms of discrimination, both within our walls and outwards in our communities. We hosted open forums for staff members to share their life experiences and launched ten workstreams based on the outcomes of those forums to make&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Interac<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;a more equitable workplace.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Interac<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;also<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;supported five organizations through this initiative including the&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/bbpa.org\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Black Business and Professional Association<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ceetoronto.org\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">CEE Centre for Young Black Professionals<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pathwaystoeducation.ca\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Pathways to Education<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vosnl.org\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Visions of Science<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,&nbsp; and&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/techspark.ca\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Tech Spark<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;\u2013 all of which are committed to empowering Black professionals and providing them the resources they need to reach their full potential.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\" 201341983\":0,\"335559740\":276}\"=\"\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Found new ways to support small business and our community<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{\" 201341983\":0,\"335559740\":276}\"=\"\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Since the&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">start of<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;the pandemic in Canada, businesses across the country have shown their resilience by pivoting in response<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;to&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">government restrictions and changing consumer&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">behaviours<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">To better s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">erve their customers, ma<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ny&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">quickly shifted to&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">digital payment tools such as<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/i><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Interac<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> e-Transfer. We expanded our digital offerings for small businesses, supported our small business partners, and focused our&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CFzbDy0hpdg\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">marketing efforts<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;on encouraging Canadians to shop local.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\" 201341983\":0,\"335559740\":276}\"=\"\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In addition to expanding our digital offerings and campaigning, we also&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">pivoted our<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;internal efforts&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">support small businesses throughout the pandemic. We launched a small business catalogue for our&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.interac.ca\/celebrating-our-employees-and-supporting-small-business-through-employee-appreciation-week\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Employee Appreciation Week<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;and&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.interac.ca\/giving-back-to-our-employees-and-local-businesses-this-holiday-season\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Holiday celebrations<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;this year<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;investing more than $65,000 in local small businesses.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\" 201341983\":0,\"335559740\":276}\"=\"\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Smashed digital transaction records<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;and protected Canadians against fraud<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{\" 201341983\":0,\"335559740\":276}\"=\"\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The COVID-19 pandemic had an&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.interac.ca\/interac-debit-data-signs-of-covid-19-recovery\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">immediate impact&nbsp;<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">on consumer&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">behaviour<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;in Canada.&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.interac.ca\/covid-consumer-behaviour\/%22%20\/\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Bulk<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;buying ensued almost immediately<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;before spending dipped due to the closure of non-essential businesses. Canadians transitioned to digital payment options, such as the&nbsp;<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Interac<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;e-Transfer service<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">S<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ince mid-March we\u2019ve seen a&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.interac.ca\/infographic-five-trends-in-canadian-consumer-spending-during-covid-19\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">69 per cent increase&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">in&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Canadians<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;using the&nbsp;<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Interac<\/span><\/i><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">e-Transfer platform at least twice a month, up from 42 per cent pre-pandemic.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Over 70 million&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">transactions<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;took place in October 2020 alone.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\" 201341983\":0,\"335559740\":276}\"=\"\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Interac<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;also&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">formed&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">27&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">new&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">partnerships with companies such as&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Dollarama<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to expand our&nbsp;<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Interac<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;In-App\/In-Browser offerings so more Canadians can choose to pay with their own money.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">More time at home and in-store shopping restrictions have forced Canadians to change habits almost overnight \u2014<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.interac.ca\/infographic-five-trends-in-canadian-consumer-spending-during-covid-19\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">more than half of Canadians<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;(53 per cent) report using digital payments such as&nbsp;<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Interac<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;In-App\/In-Browser more frequently during the pandemic, and many said they\u2019ll continue to do so in future.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\" 201341983\":0,\"335559740\":276}\"=\"\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Even with the enormous growth of&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">digital transactions this year, we\u2019ve&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">worked tirelessly to keep our networks safe and secure for all Canadians. In fact, we had our lowest rates of fraud since 2013.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\" 201341983\":0,\"335559740\":276}\"=\"\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Recognized<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;as&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">a leader in trust and leadership in 2020<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{\" 201341983\":0,\"335559740\":276}\"=\"\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Trust is a key priority for our business, one we hold at the core of everything we do. That\u2019s one of the reasons we\u2019re chosen 18 million times a day to pay and move money. In 2020,&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Interac<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;Corp. was recognized as one of the&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.interac.ca\/interac-named-one-of-canadas-most-trusted-financial-services-brands\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">most trusted brands in Canada<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;by&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uvic.ca\/gustavson\/brandtrust\/top-10\/index.php\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Gustavson<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;Brand Trust Index (GBTI)<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, presented by the Peter B.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Gustavson<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;School of Business at the University of Victoria.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Interac<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;tied for the #1 most trusted financial services brand and this was the sixth consecutive year we topped the list.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\" 201341983\":0,\"335559740\":276}\"=\"\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, GBTI conducted a follow-up study of Canadian consumers to evaluate whether or not the level of trust they had with brands changed during the pandemic. In the follow-up report,&nbsp;<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Interac<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;was rated the 7th most trusted brand in Canada.<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\" 201341983\":0,\"335559740\":276}\"=\"\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Debbie Gamble, Chief Officer<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Innovation<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;Labs &amp; New Ventures was&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">recognized by<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">the&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/business\/rob-magazine\/article-canadas-best-executives-2020-how-they-lead-their-companies-through\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Report on Business&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Best Executive Awards<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">as an exceptional leader&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">in Canadian technology<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Debbie was one of 50&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">business&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">leaders&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">recognized<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">in th<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">is inaugural&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">list<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\" 201341983\":0,\"335559740\":276}\"=\"\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Focused on the future<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{\" 201341983\":0,\"335559740\":276}\"=\"\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The COVID-19 pandemic has taught us a lot about consumer&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">behaviour<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;and the future of digital payments in Canada.
