Over the past two years, she&#8217;s challenged herself and grown in her career at Interac. She now works on our Fraud Analytics team as a Specialist analyzing fraud trends in the Canadian landscape. When she\u2019s not busy working to prevent potential fraud incidents from occurring, she can be found building video games. Cool, right?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mDzI1XMUZeo?rel=0\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A Day in the Life of Mumtahin Monzoor<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">7 am <\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019m usually sleeping, to be honest. I am not a morning person, so I will do everything in my power to get as much &#8216;last-minute&#8217; sleep as possible! The odd days I am up at 7 am, it is usually because I am trying to make a last-minute assignment submission for one of my courses &#8211; I\u2019m still in school part-time.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">10 am<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Mitigating financial crime involves learning constantly and implementing proactive controls, including looking at patterns from previous transactions. If there is a notable transaction pattern that is worth investigating further to enhance our existing fraud controls, I spend the remainder of my morning doing so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">12 pm<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eating lunch and watching lecture videos from my course, unless it\u2019s a Thursday. On Thursdays, I treat myself and watch John Oliver videos instead.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2 pm<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If I am not in meetings, I am working on an array of research projects around improving our detection to catch potential threats. The landscape of financial crime is ever-changing and we need to always ensure that we have the correct tools to mitigate fraud. However, we need to do so without impacting the product usage of legitimate customers. I focus on researching new features that give us additional lenses when identifying fraudsters while ensuring real customers are minimally affected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">5 pm<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I am winding down for the day, taking notes on what I found today and additional components I would like to research the following morning. Having a list of outstanding items and giving some thought about what I want to work on the next day, make me quite productive when I come in first thing.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mumtahin\u2019s Recommendations<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A podcast I love: Weekly Economist<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A food I can&#8217;t live without: Dark chocolate (70%), obviously. It is everything magical packed into a single bite.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A place I love: Versailles. Aside from the grandeur and breathtaking beauty, it has so much interesting history to offer.
