The Opt-Out feature that had been temporarily disabled on October 26, 2024 to make important improvements has relaunched as of March 6, 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Customers can now set their communication preferences for specific users by clicking on the \u201cmanage notification preferences\u201d link at the bottom of their Interac e-Transfer email notifications.  This feature provides a way for recipients to avoid receiving potentially abusive or harmful messages without impacting their ability to receive funds or fulfill money requests. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As an enhancement, if a recipient would like to opt back in to receiving messages, they are able to manage their preferences directly by clicking on the \u201cmanage notifications preferences\u201d link and following the prompts provided. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In collaboration with all Canadian financial institution Participants, we remain committed to providing Canadians with options that offer greater control in managing their individual Interac e-Transfer notification communication preferences.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On October 22, 2024, a new Opt-Out feature was launched that enables users to choose not to view messages from specific senders in Interac e-Transfer email notifications.  To make important updates to the user experience, the feature was temporarily disabled as of October 26, 2024 to address these enhancements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In collaboration with all Canadian financial institution Participants, we remain committed to providing Canadians with options that offer greater control in managing their individual Interac e-Transfer notification communication preferences.  We will provide an update on our timing to relaunch the feature soon, please check back here for details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Updated October 22, 2024<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In collaboration with Canadian financial institutions, we have implemented a new enhancement to help address the misuse of our Interac e-Transfer service. With this enhancement, users now have the option of opting-out of seeing sender-generated content in their individual Interac e-Transfer email notifications from contacts selected by the user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once a user opts-out, the message field and contact name of the recipient as generated by the sender will be redacted. The objective of this feature is to provide a way for recipients to avoid receiving potentially abusive or harmful messages without impacting their ability to receive funds or fulfill money requests.  Note that if a user has registered for the Autodeposit feature, the user\u2019s contact name as registered with the Interac e-Transfer service will remain unchanged and only the memo field will be redacted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We remain committed to addressing the misuse of Interac e-Transfer. We continue to actively work on additional enhancements to provide Canadians with greater control in managing their individual Interac e-Transfer notification preferences and will continue to share updates as we make further progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are concerned about the misuse of Interac e-Transfer for harassment, and we take our responsibility to this matter seriously. Our priority is to keep Canadians safe and secure when transacting digitally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In collaboration with Canadian financial institutions, we are actively working on enhancements to help address the misuse of our Interac e-Transfer service. After consulting with participating financial institutions and careful consideration of several options, we will be implementing new features that will give recipients more choice and control over incoming messages within Interac e-Transfer email notifications and the ability to restrict user interactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These new features will be available in the coming months, providing Canadians with greater control in managing their individual Interac e-Transfer notification preferences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
