Contests celebrate the availability of <\/em>Interac Debit as a contactless payment option on the TTC<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

TORONTO, October 25, 2023<\/strong> \u2013<\/strong> Interac Corp. (Interac) announced two new contests that will give eligible transit riders the chance to win free Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) adult fare rides for an entire year*. The contests celebrate the availability of Interac <\/em>Debit as a contactless payment option<\/a> for adult fares on the TTC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBy providing transit users the same quick and convenient payment method they already use for their everyday essentials, Interac is putting Canadians in charge of how they pay and move around their cities,\u201d said William Keliehor, Chief Commercial Officer, Interac Corp. \u201cWe are thrilled to celebrate the availability of Interac <\/em>Debit on the TTC by awarding confirmed prize winners free rides for a year, and we encourage TTC riders to tap on with Interac <\/em>Debit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transit riders can also leave their wallets at home and pay adult transit fares directly by using a debit card loaded in their participating mobile wallet on their smartphones or smartwatches. Across all participating transit agencies where Interac<\/em> Debit is available as a contactless payment option, the proportion of transit riders using Interac<\/em> Debit with their mobile wallets has been steadily and quickly increasing. In September of this year, 41 per cent of Interac<\/em> Debit transit transactions used mobile wallets up from 30 per cent in January. Additionally, this summer Interac recorded more than one billion Interac<\/em> Debit mobile contactless transactions<\/a> in a 12-month period for the first time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe availability of Interac<\/em> Debit means a more seamless way to pay for transit, without having to load passes or purchase tickets,\u201d said Andrew Yablonovsky, Associate Vice-President, Product Strategy and Growth, Interac Corp. \u201cWith availability across the TTC and all other Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area agencies that accept PRESTO, transit users can ride with confidence knowing debit is available for adult fares.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first contest opens October 25, 2023 and closes November 3, 2023. Ontario age of majority residents can enter online for a chance to win by visiting interac.ca\/TTCcontest<\/a>*.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interac will also be hosting a pop-up at Union Station in Toronto on October 25 and 26, where commuters can enjoy a complimentary coffee\u1da7 for their commute and Ontario age of majority residents can enter for a chance to win one of three grand prizes of free TTC rides for a year plus other prizes aimed at making commutes a little easier*. The pop-up and related contest will be open on October 25 from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and on October 26 from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
