“Interac is more than just a job.” Our employees say that all the time, and we try to prove them right. We could give you a million reasons why Interac is a cool place to work, but for the sake of time, here are just seven.
We turn our employees into leaders
Trying to stand out in a crowded FinTech job market? It’s not easy, we know. So how can you stand out from a competitive crowd? By working at Interac, of course! Ever heard of Interac e-Transfer and Request Money? We did it, we’re proud of it, and we’re a game-changer in payments because of it.
That’s why we try to give our employees credit for their groundbreaking work. Whether they’re humble-bragging about their achievements on industry panels or being the people everyone wants to talk to at networking nights, we set them up with opportunities to shine in their industry. In other words, we take the “leader” part of thought leader very, very seriously.
We’re shaping the future of the digital economy…right now
Whether we’re accelerating faster payments in Canada, exploring digital identity, or collaborating to understand the opportunities for open banking in Canada, bringing leaders together to make life better for Canadians is what Interac does.
Our workplace culture rewards hard work
Our employees give their all on every Interac project, so our culture works with them, not against them. We’re more interested in computer code than dress code, and we know that building great products means building a proper work-life balance. That’s why we reward our staff’s hard work with reduced summer hours, dedicated quiet hours and other flexible working options. Because we know that if our staff feel great, they’ll do great work.
We work and play together
Despite what people say, hard work is not its own reward. Whether it’s giving back to our employees (and small businesses) during the holidays, hosting Employee Appreciation Summer, or one of our other virtual events, we make a point of celebrating our staff.
We give more than a free lunch
But our employee rewards don’t stop at the occasional party. That’s why we offer a competitive bonus structure formed around Pay for Performance, as why we also make RRSP contributions on behalf of our employees.
We also know that there are other ways to look after our staff. It’s fun to get a free lunch or a free pie on National Pie Day, we also know that offering best in class benefits that have a big impact on employee’s personal lives make all the difference.
We help our employees grow
No one builds a career from staying in the same place, so we do our part to give employees the skills they need to thrive in their fields. From training programs to tuition subsidies to online courses to paid internships, there’s no end to the learning opportunities we offer, whether you’re just starting in the industry or you’re a seasoned veteran.
We invest in our communities
Prosperous communities lead to prosperous companies. That’s why we invested more than $1M in our community partners in 2020. Whether that’s expanding employment opportunities for young innovators, investing in the future of Canadians and technology, or increasing financial aid and digital literacy. Plus, the Interac team raised over $95,000 for the United Way and its agencies that support marginalized communities.
But we didn’t stop there. We also reallocated resources to programming that directly supports the safe reopening of small businesses. This includes supporting the Canada United Small Business Relief Fund, working alongside our industry partners to broaden our impact on small business recovery, and investing more than $65,000 into local businesses through our employee events.
