Interac Rolls Out its Magic Truck
Interac Association Launches New Icon and Slogan

Toronto, Ontario, November 5, 2007 – Interac Association, Canada’s national debit network, has launched a new and innovative brand platform, which introduces a magical INTERAC armoured truck as its icon, and “Everyday Simply” as its new slogan. The icon and slogan will be featured in a national consumer advertising campaign which begins today.

INTERAC is a trusted and familiar name among Canadians and we’re bringing this brand to life,” said Nicky Cameron, vice president, marketing and communications, Interac Association.“INTERAC is more than a functional product, in fact consumers indicate that by providing them direct access to their money we make their lives simpler. Our new brand platform leverages this emotional connection that Canadians have with INTERAC, by communicating peace of mind and simplicity, while reinforcing the security and reliability of the service.”

The new icon, an INTERAC armoured truck, is invisible to the eye, but is with you where ever you go and stays by your side throughout every challenge, symbolizing that your money is secure and always with you.

“Our brand challenge was to articulate in a new way what INTERAC means to Canadians. We wanted something simple, memorable and friendly, that reflected everyday life,” said Brian Howlett, Partner/Creative Director, Axmith McIntyre Wicht, Interac Association’s advertising agency. “The INTERAC magic truck is a one-of-a-kind icon that embodies the idea of your money, security, accessibility, and reliability – all core to the INTERAC brand.”

The armoured truck was specially designed for INTERAC using computer generated imaging technology, which enabled the truck to have a realistic look, as well as a warm personality. Every detail and sound was explored carefully and judged according to INTERAC’s brand profile.

“Today’s brand launch marks a milestone in the history of the INTERAC brand,” said Mark O’Connell, President and CEO, Interac Association. “It’s important to reinforce our brand equity in order to be able to extend the brand to new products and services, particularly as we move to chip technology, a new generation of payment technology.”

The new INTERAC magic truck campaign features the well-recognized logo and brand colours, yellow and black, and includes national television and print advertising. The television advertisements launch on November 5, 2007 in prime time slots and the print advertisements will appear in consumer magazines, beginning in January.
