What is Interac Cash? Interac Cash Security How Interac Cash Works ABM Fees and Surcharges
The Interac Cash service is a convenient way to withdraw cash from your account at any Automated Banking Machine (ABM) displaying the Interac logo, anywhere in Canada.
When you're looking for cash in a hurry, you don't have to look far to find an ABM. Interac services have made accessing your accounts for withdrawals easy and available everywhere in Canada. Since the service is available 24 hours a day, you do not need to worry about what hours a branch is open or searching for an ABM belonging to your own financial institution.

The Interac Cash service is safe and secure. This is ensured by the use of your card and confidential Personal Identification Number (PIN). Adherence to strict Canadian and international security standards are required by all participating Interac Association members.
It is important to report lost or stolen cards to your financial institution immediately to avoid any possible liability. Learn more about the security of Interac products and services here.

The Interac Cash service allows you to withdraw cash from your account at an Automated Banking Machine (ABM). To begin a transaction, insert a valid Interac branded debit card into an ABM that displays the Interac logo and follow the prompts on the screen, which will ask you to:
- Enter the withdrawal amount
- Select the account from which you wish to withdraw funds
- Enter your Personal Identification Number (PIN)
- Provide a final okay to send the request the cash withdrawal

The Interac Cash service does not offer bill payments or deposits. ABMs belonging to your own financial institution may provide options such as bill payments or deposits. Each Interac Association member administers its own Automated Banking Machine (ABM) network. This means that, should you have any questions or concerns about an ABM transaction, you need to speak to your financial institution directly.

Automated Banking Machine fees
Interac Association does not set or collect fees from you. However, financial institutions often charge a transaction fee for making a debit on your account. They may also charge you a fee when you use an ABM that is operated by another organization. Financial legislation regulates the setting and notice of these fees.


Interac Association does not set or regulate surcharge fees. However, Interac Association members may choose to apply a surcharge for transactions made using Interac services. A surcharge is a fee charged to you by the member responsible for the ABM.
Interac Association maintains strict rules to ensure that surcharges are properly disclosed on the ABM screen. You're always presented with a screen indicating the surcharge fee amount. The transaction will only proceed if you accept the disclosed surcharge amount.
